Do you ever find yourself trying to come up with new ideas or wishing you had another “you” in your position at your shelter or rescue? Someone you can bounce ideas off of, share experiences with, and even learn from? Believe it or not, you can!

How? By connecting with those in your same position or department at other organizations across the country!

Think about it. Let’s say you’re in marketing for a local shelter or rescue organization. Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to share ideas and talk with other marketing people in your industry? You could brainstorm with them, see what they’ve done that works, or didn’t work, or how they successfully executed that cool campaign.

Whether you’re a foster care coordinator or president of your organization, this type of collaboration can be beneficial for any position.

Interested in collaborating with others but not sure where to start or what to do? Here are a few easy steps:

  • Reach out to other organizations across the country that are doing great work and connect with the team in your department.
  • Explain what you’d like to do, and ask if they’d like to be part of it.
  • Create a Facebook group or a similar forum where you can all chat, collaborate and share.
  • Consider having a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly Skype call with everyone.

Pretty simple, right? So don’t go at it alone. Collaboration = more lives saved!
