Most of the country’s having a respite from recent bitter cold temperatures, but cold weather stories from two shelters that participated in the Maddie’s® Apprenticeship Program would warm you up no matter how low the wind chill! We’ve also got news you may have missed last week. Have a great #MaddieMonday!

Maddie’s® Apprentices in the news
Maddie’s® Apprenticeships are designed to bring lifesaving ideas back to communities all over the country – and that’s what’s happening! An apprentice from Humane Rescue Alliance got 23 hard to place dogs into foster last week when they made an emergency foster plea when their heating system has issues during a cold snap. And an apprentice from Southern Pines Animal Shelter (SPAS) in Mississippi came to the Medium and Large Adult Dog Foster Apprenticeship and learned about emergency foster this summer. They also had a cold snap last week, and noticed that some puppies might be getting cold so put out a call for fosters and got so many that they were able to pull in three moms and pups from a nearby euthanasia list and 30 dogs from neighboring shelters!

Now they’ve partnered with the Shelter Pet Project to sing out for shelter cats! Read more
