It’s National Cat Day — where better to spend it than the Cat Town Cafe?

It’s the nation’s first cat cafe, located in Oakland, California, financed in part by Maddie’s Fund® and featuring the cats of Oakland Animal Services (OAS) — all available for cuddles, pets, purrs and, of course, adoption, while visitors are sipping a chai latte or nibbling a cookie. (Blood pressure reduction is on the house.)

Since it started taking in OAS cats in 2011, Cat Town has saved over 1,100 cats and seen the live release rate at the shelter rise to 93 percent — with a lot of help from 300 adoptions in the cafe since it opened last year.

In celebration of Cat Day, everyone, no matter where they live, is invited to attend Maddie’s® Meow Mixer via our virtual KittyCam and spend the day with the cats of Cat Town, listening to a feline-centric musical soundtrack. The big event is happening today, Thursday, October 29, from 10 AM to noon, and 4 PM to 6 PM Pacific Time! It’s the hottest ticket in town — pass it on!
