Happy Birthday, Maddie!

A little dog named Maddie was born on April 26, 1987. Today would have been her 30th birthday.

During her life, Maddie showed her human family, Dave and Cheryl Duffield, such unconditional love that they vowed, if they ever had any money, they would give back to her and her kind so that other families could experience the immense joy they have with her.

After founding several tech companies, they created Maddie’s Fund® to honor her as the fulfillment of that vow.

Over the past 30 years, Maddie has directly impacted the lives of over 1 million shelter dogs and cats through funding innovation, education and research and building relationships through the more than $187 million dollars in grants awarded in her name by Maddie’s Fund.

Today, animal welfare leaders, shelters, and the nation’s largest animal organizations have come together to honor her memory and all that was inspired #ThanksToMaddie! And, as always, Maddie shares her birthday with all homeless pets – so join in on the celebration with your own photos using #HappyBirthdayMaddie!
