maddie's shelter compass

Did your animal shelter come with an instruction manual? We didn’t think so! Do you want to save more lives and increase efficiency but aren’t exactly sure where to begin?

Maddie’s® Shelter Compass is here to help! This free web-based tool will provide your shelter with a custom roadmap to save more lives, all in a matter of minutes. All you need to do is enter some basic shelter data and answer a few questions, and woof there it is!

We all want to do what it takes to maximize lifesaving, but in the complex world of sheltering, sometimes it’s tough to know where to start. This is where Maddie’s® Shelter Compass comes in. Your lifesaving roadmap will give you a focused set of goals designed for  maximum impact in your particular shelter. And to help you navigate, you’ll get a data dashboard with beautiful charts and graphs so you can clearly see where you are today and where you want to be.

Maddie’s® Shelter Compass was created by Dr. Mike Greenberg, Maddie’s Fund Director of Outreach Programs. As a shelter veterinarian and former director of Target Zero, Dr. Greenberg wanted to create a tool to help shelters reduce intake and increase efficiency and live outcomes. “It’s easier to be successful when you have a clear goal,” he says. “This will make your job easier by helping you focus on the programs that’ll give you the most impact.”

If you’ll be attending Best Friends National Conference in Dallas this month, then you’ll be able to see the tool in action and build your lifesaving map on-site. Sign up now to reserve your 15-minute time-slot to work with a coach at the conference. Be sure to come prepared with your data. And if you’re not coming to Dallas, stay tuned as registration to use the actual tool will open soon!

If you’re already a member of Shelter Animals Count, this will be super simple for you. Be sure to have at least 12 months of Shelter Animals Count data; ideally you’ll want data up to the current month to get the most accurate picture of your shelter. If you’re not on Shelter Animals Count (and you should be!), you’ll need to manually enter your data, but it’s still super easy.

Chart your course and boost lifesaving today with Maddie’s® Shelter Compass. Reserve your time-slot at the Best Friends Conference today!
