Do free pet adoption events encourage first-time adopters? Survey results from the nation’s largest free pet adoption event suggest they do.

In a survey from the 2013 Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days, 33 percent of all adopters reported they had never adopted a shelter or rescue group pet before.

Additionally, 97 percent said they would adopt from the same organization again in the future, and 99 percent would recommend adoption to their friends and family members.
