Has an adopted pet ever changed your life? Has a pet adopted from your shelter or rescue group ever changed someone else’s life? The Petco Foundation wants to hear your stories, and help animal welfare organizations save more lives during the holidays and year round!
The foundation, in partnership with Petco, is once again making holiday wishes come true with more than $750,000 in grant awards to qualified animal welfare organizations. Pet adopters are invited to share their story (including photos and/or video) of how their adopted pet changed their life for a chance to earn a grant for the animal welfare organization they adopted their pet from. Shelters and rescue groups should encourage their adopters to share their stories, and increase the chances the organization will win.
“At the Petco Foundation, we’re All for Love. Because if you’ve ever shared your life with a pet, you know: love changes everything. It changes your mornings. It changes your routine. It changes your perspective,” said Petco Foundation Executive Director Susanne Kogut. “Now through October 15, we’re asking adopters to tell us how their adopted pet brings more joy to their life each day, and how the love of their pet changed their life, in a big or small way, making it better.
Anyone who has adopted a pet can submit a story to the Petco Foundation’s Holiday Wishes contest, giving the organization they adopted from a chance to win one of the Holiday Wishes grant awards. Animal welfare organizations have the opportunity to receive the grand prize of a $100,000 grant, or a series of finalist awards ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. A full list of prizes is available at www.petco.com/holidaywishes. The submitted stories will be reviewed by the Petco Foundation, and the Holiday Wishes grants will be awarded this December.
Petco will also award the person who submits the winning story a $1,000 Petco gift card, giving them the chance to spoil their adopted pet this holiday season.
The deadline to submit stories for a Holiday Wishes grant is October 15, 2016, at 11:59 PM Central Time. Adopters are encouraged to visit www.petco.com/holidaywishes for more information and to get started!
