Dogs make all our lives better. But what a trained service dog can do for a child facing disability can be a miracle.

Little Bella Burton, 11, has Morquio Syndrome, which impairs her mobility. She had not walked in a long time, and it was thought she’d spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

Then came George. Specially trained at the nonprofit Service Dog Project to assist Bella with walking and standing, this giant friend got her moving again. Steadied by his calm presence at her side, she charges up and down stairs, goes sledding, and spends “George’s Best Day Ever” in Boston.
