DIY dog toy

The show “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” has inspired many people to figure out which of their belongings “spark joy” for them. Those that don’t, are discarded. Thrift stores have seen an increase in donations, which some have attributed to the “tidying up” craze.

Your animal shelter or rescue organization can capitalize on this trend and create simple dog toys from rejected t-shirts. All you need are some scissors, t-shirts and tennis balls (which some would-be tennis players may also want to toss!)

You can encourage volunteers, donors, staff or your community to make these toys themselves or donate the supplies needed to make them.

The two-minute video below shows you how to make two easy and fun toys. Have a great weekend!
