Zack skow and dog

Can you believe we’re just about one month away from the HSUS Animal Care Expo in New Orleans? As you start to peruse the sessions and create your schedule, be sure you mark your calendar to attend the Welcome Session on Monday, April 15 from 4pm – 5:30pm. Here you’ll get to watch keynote speaker Zach Skow’s inspirational talk about not judging a book by its cover. And if there’s one person who can attest to the importance of this notion, it’s Skow.

For those of you who don’t know Skow, he’s the founder of Marley’s Mutts – a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, trains and re-homes dogs from Kern County’s animal shelters. They also utilize the rescued dogs to transform people’s lives.

Skow’s story is worth a read (whether you’re attending the conference or not). From drug addiction, lack of purpose and dying of liver disease when he was 28 years old; to rehabilitation, recovery and the unconditional love of his rescue dogs along the way – the tale of how Marley’s Mutts came to be will inspire you. With that said, we can only imagine what his keynote will bring!

Skow recently took part in Jockey’s Show ‘Em What’s Underneath campaign, encouraging others to #ShowEm Purpose.
