If you’re looking to bring new ideas to your organizations about dog and cat behavior then consider joining Maddie’s® Monthly Behavior Connection. This monthly webcast is held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 12PM PT/3PM ET and is an opportunity hear from speakers about behavior medications, modifying animal behavior, assessing and improving animal well-being (welfare) and how organizations successfully provide behavior support to dogs and cats. This month, the meeting with be all about managing arousal in the shelter setting.

On August 22, we will discuss some challenges of working with what we often call “high arousal” or “high energy” dogs in a shelter or foster environment. We will identify specific behaviors of concern, the impact of those behaviors on people and animals and look at how to manage or modify them.

Presenting this month will be Fernando Diaz, the Behavior Center Academy Manager for the San Diego Humane Society. With over 15 years of experience in the animal care industry, he’s worked with marine mammals, reptiles, fish, cats and dogs. He is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), a Certified Shelter Behavior Specialist (CSBS) with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and a certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) with the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). He is a Fear Free Certified Trainer and a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT).
