Software industry entrepreneur Dave Duffield and his wife Cheryl have committed $1 million to animal welfare organizations for Hurricanes Helene and Milton relief efforts through their two foundations, Maddie’s Fund® and The Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation. These funds will support organizations that are helping animals directly affected by the catastrophic hurricanes. The two hurricanes, which struck land less than two weeks apart, have resulted in destruction and hundreds of deaths across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Maddie’s Fund was founded in 1994 by the Duffields to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals. The Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, founded in 2016, focuses on support for military Veterans with disabilities and companion animal well-being.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by the hurricanes. Pets are valued family members, and even more so during times of stress. We are providing these funds to help reunite families as quickly as possible,” said Dave Duffield, founder of enterprise software companies PeopleSoft, Workday, and now, Ridgeline.
Many organizations have been on the ground helping in numerous ways – from donating supplies, to transferring animals out of local shelters to make room for displaced pets, to rescuing animals from flooding waters. The aftermath is far from over and recovery will take time. “Thanks to Dave and Cheryl, we’re committed to supporting those who are providing essential care for pets and communities during this trying time,” said Amy Zeifang, Maddie’s Fund Executive Leadership Team.
