MFDogs_Sheltered_IMG_9539Does a dog’s photo and description on an adoption website change his or her chances of getting adopted?

The University of Sydney is conducting research into how images and accompanying language affect dogs’ length of stay in shelters. They’re asking participants to respond to a series of questions about photos on their site. From the lead researcher:

I am reviewing the text assigned to individual animals, focusing on the use and frequency of personality adjectives and how this may affect adoption success (length of stay). Similarly, I have developed this web-based scoring system to assess photographic attributes of the four most common breeds within the data (Australian Cattle Dog, Jack Russell Terrier, Staffordshire Bull-Terrier and Labrador Retriever). Again, these data will be correlated with the length of stay (time) to determine whether certain phenotypic characteristics enhance adoptability of dogs.
