How would you like to spend twelve months receiving one-on-one training from leaders in Austin, Texas, America’s largest no-kill city? And then leave with the tools and training to implement the model in your own community? With Maddie’s® Executive Leadership Fellowship, you can!
The Maddie’s® Executive Leadership Fellowship is an intensive professional opportunity for individuals committed to developing and strengthening their knowledge and skill sets in no-kill animal sheltering management and leadership. The goal of the program is to increase the number of no-kill leaders working in the industry and thus, save more lives.
Two fellows will be selected and will spend six months at Austin Pets Alive! and six months at Austin Animal Center, receiving the experience and foundation to compete for professional positions in animal welfare applying no-kill principles and practices in future leadership roles. Fellows will serve one calendar year and receive $65,000 salary, full benefits and $5,000 to cover moving expenses to Austin.
Fellows will be required to:
- Initiate and complete a project for the no-kill community of Austin, Texas
- Present on learnings at the end of each quarter and participate in evaluation process
- Pursue a leadership position in the animal welfare field for three years following the fellowship
Sound intense? Rigorous? That’s because it will be, according to Lynne Fridley, Director of Education at Maddie’s Fund. Rest assured, she said, “we are confident that these fellows will leave ready to take open positions as shelter directors in other communities across the United States. We are delighted to collaborate with the leadership at Austin Pets Alive! and Austin Animal Center to create this incredible opportunity, and look forward to seeing the leaders and lifesaving that result.”
