He’s the coolest of the cool cats, and he’s here to tell you shelter pets are the best.

We’re talking about Paul Shaffer, iconic leader of David Letterman’s Late Night Band, and adopter of homeless dogs.

He jammed with the Shelter Pet Project to create this video, introducing his adopted dogs and encouraging others to sing along — er, adopt!

It’s a side of Shaffer you may never have seen before, although  the video also gives you some peeks at his musical and show business sides, too.

We think you’ll agree it’s got a great beat and you can definitely dance to it.
