Getting more pets adopted can be more fun than anything else you can do from your chair — and today, we’re proving it!
Today, Thursday, December 7, is the The Shelter Pet Project‘s Eighth Annual Celebrate Shelter Pets Day. Originally designated “Shelter Pets Take Over Facebook Day,” its goal was to encourage people to share stories and photos of their adopted pets so their friends and families would adopt, too. It rapidly grew beyond Facebook to include all social platforms and involve hundreds of thousands of pets and their happy adopters.
Being part of this event is easy: Just share your adopted pets’ photos and stories on Facebook, Instagram, and other social platforms and blogs on December 7. Tag them with #CelebrateShelterPets, and, optionally, tag the Shelter Pet Project (@shelterpets on Twitter, @shelterpetproject on Instagram) as well. Let your “on the fence” friends and family know how much you love your adopted pets, how much they’ve added to your life, and how easy it is for them to have the same joy.
This year, for the first time The Shelter Pet Project has invited shelters across the country to participate in a day-long Facebook Live event on The Shelter Pet Project’s Facebook page. They’ll be streaming from coast to coast starting at 11 AM Eastern Time, featuring incredible pets, happy adopters, singing, dancing, and yes… superheroes! Please stop by and join the fun!
Other ways to get involved include:
- Promote the event so other adopters can use their voices to help shelter and rescue pets, too.
- Visit The Shelter Pet Project’s Facebook page and share your pets’ stories there as well as on your own social media.
