Is your animal shelter trying to recruit foster caregivers among the COVID-19 chaos? The Shelter Pet Project has created some light-hearted graphics to help you do just that. Feel free to use the graphics below on your social platforms to spread the word about fostering. (Just right-click, save to your device and then upload to your social media platform.)
A silver lining with COVID-19 has been the increase in foster care throughout the country. New York City, one of the places hit hardest by the virus, has been running out of dogs and cats to foster and adopt. People are home more and need companionship, making it the perfect time to foster.
The abrupt changes in daily lifestyle and work routines can cause stress in even the most laid-back of humans, and pets are proven to provide a sense of comfort and companionship. To help alleviate any additional stress, we encourage you to include in your recruitment messaging what your organization will provide the foster caregiver with. Do you cover medical costs, food and other supplies? Let people know! These details can play a big factor in whether or not someone chooses to foster.
With kitten season just around the corner, you can also use foster recruitment video we put together last year starring Hamilton the Pug, his brother Rufus and their rotating cast of kittens!
